Before you promise
Type /promised in Slack, or search the HubSpot deal card, to see whether something was promised before, to whom, and when it ships.
Transcript
Has this been promised before?
Type slash promised and a few words in Slack. Only you see the answer.
Each match shows the account, the due date, its status and the work.
A capability adds the claim and when it was last checked.
The same search sits on the HubSpot deal card.
Before you start
- Slack connected on Connect, with the app reinstalled for the /promised command
- Your confirmed Slack email is the address you sign in to CommitOps with
Steps
- Type the command. In any Slack channel or message, type
/promisedand a few words about what you are about to promise. Only you see the answer./promised sandbox
- Read the matches. Up to five kept promises come back, each with its ref, title, account, due date, status and the linked work. A match marked similar is close in meaning but does not use your words; open it before you rely on it.
- Check the claim. When your words name a capability, such as SSO or data residency, the answer adds the claim register's line for it: verified, false or unverified, and when it was last checked.
- Search from the deal card. On a HubSpot deal, type the same words under Before you promise on the CommitOps card and press Look up. It searches every account, not only this deal's.
What success looks like
- The answer names the ref and the account a promise was made to
- A capability shows when its claim was last checked
Troubleshooting
- The answer says your Slack account is not linked
- The command acts as you. It links when your confirmed Slack email is the address you sign in with; ask an owner to add that address under Settings, People.
- Slack says the command failed
- The Slack app needs the /promised command and the commands scope. An owner reinstalls the app from Connect after adding them, as the setup guide describes.
- A promise you remember does not show
- Only kept promises are searched. A candidate still in the inbox shows nowhere until a person keeps it.
